Typically, I enjoy a clever play on words, especially if it’s used for a company’s official name. However, in this instance, it served as a minor case of anxiety for me. Which, I understand may sound strange, so allow me to elaborate a little bit.

As I’m sure you can tell instantly from looking at this dispensary’s name, it’s obviously a play on the common rideshare service, Lyft. Now, I’m sure you don’t know this, but I was a driver for them for three years.

Needless to say, that job was not my favorite. In fact, you could go so far as to say it was the worst. So many hours spent in my car, driving around complete strangers, for below minimum wage was a nightmare. Not only was it utterly demoralizing, but it wreaked havoc on my poor car, and I wound up spending thousands just on Lyft-induced upkeep. It was horrible.

After each shift, I’d be yearning for the calm and comfort of a smoke session. The likes of which I had on a daily basis. So, for a delivery service to take on a Lyft-inspired name, though clever, brought on more negative associations with me, personally, than positive ones. But, you know the old saying, “don’t judge a book by its cover.” So, against my better judgment, I decided to give this uniquely named cannabis delivery service a try.

However, I will say this, if this place leaves me with any sort of financial strain, like it’s rideshare-inspired namesake, I doubt that I’ll ever come back for a second visit, that’s for sure.

Atmosphere

Well, seeing as how this is a delivery-only business, there is no actual storefront to praise or critique. Which means all of that judgment, good or bad, will be focused on their official website. And, from the moment you arrive there, you are hit with a severely outdated vibe and archaic aesthetic.

Horrible color schemes, bland organization, and an overall inexperienced feeling washes over the curious cannabis enthusiast the second their page loads in the browser. For lack of a better term, it’s horrible. It’s as if a middle schooler designed their interface after a week at coding camp. It’s atrocious.

As one scrolls down, they quickly approach the various cannabis mediums that they make available. Each square link takes the visitor to that portion of their online menu. Above those images, however, is a quick bit of information that lets the visitor know that, if they plan on placing an order today for “next-day” delivery, they can enjoy an additional 10% off.

That’s obviously not the largest deal I’ve ever seen, but hey, something’s something. And if you’re preemptive enough to plan for the replenishment of your bud supply, by all means, go ahead and take that route. Any sort of discount in the cannabis buying experience is a good thing and should be taken advantage of any time the opportunity arises.

Scrolling all the way down to the footer of their homepage, you’ll find their various delivery minimums for a collection of Bay Area cities. And, to be frank, they are not very enticing. Most of them are in the triple digits, with only a couple barely dipping below the $100 dollar mark. They even have delivery minimums that are in the $ 200’s! At that point, if I had the misfortune of living in one of those regions, I’d straight up bail.

I mean, marijuana already isn’t the cheapest, so the fact I’d have to shell out hundreds upon hundreds of dollars just to get bud delivered to me feels ridiculous.

But, hey, maybe that’s just me.

Inventory

Their menu, for the most part, seems pretty full. So, at least that’s nice to see. But it’s hard to get excited about this place after learning about their exorbitant delivery minimums. However, with over 230 cannabis-related products to choose from, you’ll likely be able to find something that suits you and your specific needs.

They have a smattering of high-quality concentrates and edibles to choose from, which is impressive. But they only have a few topicals on their menu. I understand that these products aren’t the most popular, but a little variety in this region of their selection would’ve been nice to see.

Also, as a die-hard fan of the classic flower, I was happy to see that they offer a wide array of various strains from different companies. So, if you’re on the hunt for something you’ve never tried before, you have a good chance of finding it here.

Prices

At the end of the day, a dispensary could have all the bud in the world, but if the price isn’t right, chances are they won’t be enjoying much repeat business. In the case of FLYT, I must admit, they have some seriously eye-opening price points, and I mean that in the best way possible.

Each category is filled with budget-friendly options, but it should be noted that these listed prices are “pre-tax.” But, even taking that into consideration, the final total isn’t over-the-top, so as far as being an affordable dispensary goes, I’d say FLYT is a very viable option.

Conclusion

While this delivery service’s name brought forth some unforeseen negativity, all of those non-optimistic emotions were swiped away the moment I realized how gorgeous their menu was. Now, perhaps it looked so good compared to the ugly website that it called home, but whatever the reason may be, I couldn’t help but admire their selection and average affordability.

Another thing that’s worth noting about this place is their drivers are incredibly efficient. They are more than happy to meet you anywhere, regardless of how random the drop-off spot may be. They arrive on time, are super polite, and beyond courteous – should you have any last-minute questions about a product.

So, even though I wasn’t exactly psyched to hit this place up, I have to say, I will probably be utilizing their services again in the very near future, and I strongly suggest you do the same.
